Single-Cell
Isoform-Resolved
Long-Read Sequencing

Grant

Supporting isoform-focused single-cell research with hands-on technology and scientific partnership.

Go beyond gene expression. Resolve full-length transcripts, alternative splicing, and isoform usage at single-cell resolution—insights that short-read approaches cannot fully capture.

Building on ArgenTag’s designation as an Oxford Nanopore Compatible Product, this grant brings together our instrument-free single-cell workflow with Oxford Nanopore sequencing. Designed specifically for long-read error profiles, our smart barcoding technology enables fast and reliable read assignment without requiring an inclusion list or additional short-read sequencing.

  • This grant is intended for research programs where transcript-level variation is central to the biological question.

We will prioritize projects in the following areas:

    • Cancer and Immunology

    • Neuroscience

    • Rare diseases

    • Development

Strong proposals from other fields are welcome if isoform diversity, transcript usage, or alternative splicing are core to the hypothesis.

  • Applications will be evaluated based on:

    Scientific impact and originality
Does the proposed work address a question that cannot be answered without isoform-resolved, full-length transcript data?

    Fit to the technology
Is single-cell long-read sequencing the right tool for the proposed research, and is the proposed experiment technically sound and feasible?

    Readiness to execute
    This includes:

    • Experience preparing fresh single-cell suspensions.

    • Access to appropriate long-read sequencing platforms.

    • Adequate funding and infrastructure to complete the broader project.

  • Awardees will receive:

    • Up to four reactions (~40,000 cells) of the ArgenTag Single-Cell RNA Library Kit for Long-Read Sequencing.

    • Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ligation Sequencing Kit V14 (SQK-LSK114) and R10.4.1 flow cells.

    • Project planning support and a one-hour debrief with ArgenTag’s Scientific Board.

    • Basic bioinformatics analysis, including demultiplexing, barcode/UMI processing, cell calling, quality metrics, and standard visualizations such as UMAP.

  • The ArgenTag Single-Cell RNA Library Kit for Long-Read Sequencing converts mRNA from individual cells into full-length, cell-barcoded cDNA that seamlessly integrates with Oxford Nanopore ligation sequencing workflows.

The kit uses a portable microfluidic chip to partition individual cells into microwells, together with mRNA-capture magnetic beads and ArgenTag’s smart barcoding technology.
